You never know when you might leave your headlights on and drain the battery in your car while out and about in Southgate, so make sure you have a set of jumper cables in the trunk for just such an occasion. Follow the instructions below from Southgate Lincoln to get the job done safely.

Each set of jumper cables has four clips. Two of them are red, and the others are black. The first of the red clips will attach to the larger or positive terminal on the battery of the car that starts. Now, connect the other red clamp to the positive terminal on the other vehicle's battery. The first of the black clamps will go on the other car's battery first, and the final clip attaches to an unpainted, bare metal location of the working vehicle.

Now that all of your cables are connected turn on the engine of the working vehicle and let it run for several minutes before trying the other car's ignition. Once started, drive around for roughly 15 minutes to allow the battery charge completely.
